OTIS FCU Presents $500 Check to Support Local Anti-Bullying Initiative
On Monday, January 13th, Summit Woodcock, a fourth-grader at Spruce Mountain Elementary School, spoke to Spruce Mountain Primary School students about bullying and presented one of two Buddy Benches to the school. The second Buddy Bench will be placed at Spruce Mountain Elementary School. In addition to the benches, she will also be donating the book, The Buddy Bench, to each classroom at both schools.
Summit was able to raise $1800 for her project, which she hopes will help “make the playground[s] a safer and happier place for kids,” via donations from area businesses and individuals. The Buddy Bench initiative served as her Citizenship Project for the G.L.E.E. of Maine 4-H Club.
A big congratulations to Summit from all of us at OTIS on a job well done! We are so pleased to have been able to support your anti-bullying efforts, and we hope that the Buddy Benches serve as the catalyst for many new friendships to come.
